I have the fan speed at 20% on the Jr and 50% on the big joe. The fan doesn't seem to rest that often and is on almost continuously whereas my digiq goes on for about 15 secs at a time takes a break then goes back on. When I close it up I'm generally around 100-125° and the fan kicks on after about 30 secs.

I'm waiting for the temp and then wait for thick white smoke to die down and get the light bluish smoke. I get my fire going with a electric starter to get some of the coal nice and hot and then close up the grill. 1 step and it is set temp program to hold at 225°. I don't know if this is a program issue, fan issue or just normal for the setup. My second issue is over shooting Temps, especially at startup. I've tried making one of these, but have failed. The bbq guru comes with a simple piece of metal that is bent perfectly so you can wedge the adapter plate into place. Prior to buying the fireboard I used a bbqguru digiq for over 8 years and I never once experienced these issues with that low tech setup. I am currently using AL foil and sort of wedging the adaptor plate into its position. This is a huge letdown that the adapter plates are no where close to fitting my kamado Joe's. My first question and issue is what are people using to get a good seal on the adapter plates? I have a small and a large adapter plate and neither one fits either grill. I have had my fireboard 2 with the fireboard fan for over a year now and I am having a couple issues that I'm starting to think are user error based on everyone giving this product such rav reviews. I just joined this group hoping to get some help.
